CAMP SPIRIT

We are hosting a summer kids’ program with the help of the excellent team from Camp Spirit.

Hello all. The Camp spirit registration is now open.   See the information and link below for registration.  Please pass this on to families in Abbotsford that may be looking for safe programming for their children.   From Camp Spirit Administration.I am excited to share the Camp Spirit Registration is opening TODAY for our Camp Spirit Day Camps AND Camp Spirit Virtual Camps! The staff and camp spirit oversight have worked very hard to create a plan that will be welcoming and safe for all our campers and staff.  We are going to be offering both Day camps and Virtual camps throughout the summer. I have attached posters for both our Camp Spirit Virtual Camp and our Camp Spirit Day Camp that you are welcome to share with your congregation and communities you are connected to.  You are also welcome to share them on social media. Here is the link for registration. https://www.campspirit.ca/registration.html

Outdoor Camp Spirit Day Camps:Our day camps will look quite different than how we normally would run it as we will be following all the very specific guidelines the government has outlined for summer camps to keep our children, families, staff and communities safe. This year  our day camps will all be outside.

The faith based curriculum we will be working with is called “Peace Works: Empowering the Next Generation of Peace Makers”The curriculum is filled with ideas of how to use the outdoors to explore the theme of Peace. We are excited we will be able to find a way to provide some children with some much needed spirit filled camp experience this summer. Our Day camps are for children ages 6 to 11 years old and we also are offering our LIT program from ages 12-14 years old.  We have gathered all the information we need to know regarding COVID-19 guidelines that we will need to implement at our camps to keep campers, staff and congregations safe. In response to the guidelines  the Camp Spirit Oversight decided to centralize where we offer camp at locations that can house us for 3 consecutive weeks at time.  This allows for our staff to safely learn and manage the site following the COVID-19 guidelines without having to relearn and apply those guidelines to a new space and set up each week.

We will be offering camp at Jubilee United Church, Eagleridge United Church, United Churches of Langley and Gladwin Heights United Church as their site. Shiloh Fifth Avenue United Church will be hosting a week at Jubilee UC and Trinity Memorial in Abbotsford will be hosting their camps at Gladwin Heights UC.    We know many of our campers would normally register for camp at the church they are connected to or live close to. However, we want to welcome children and families from all communities and congregations to register for these camps.  Each site will host 3 consecutive weeks for the following dates :

Gladwin Heights United Church  -August 10th-14th,August 17th-21st,August 24th -28th-
